After a breast lift with implants in December, 2010, my implants are still too high.

Q:

I am 44 years old.  I had a breast lift with implants in December, 2010.  My implants are still two fingers above my nipples.  My surgeon says to wait and see if they drop before my October appointment.  Is this normal?  Where should my implants be at this point?  I have saline smooth round 275 cc's implants in both breasts.  I have been doing the massage exercises as instructed but they seem to not be moving.  Please advise and help me to understand.

A:

These are small implants.  Your doctor's advice is very sound.  Wait another 6 months and if they do dot drop and you still have significant fullness in the upper pole of the breasts, then surgery might be the way to resolve the issue.

Depending on the position of the implant, above or below the muscle, the implants can be dropped.

If under the muscle then it is possible that you need more release of the muscle infero-medial.
