Does the "Candela's GentleYag Laser" or the Candela and V-beam work for wrinkles and skin tightening?

Q:

I would like to get rid of facial fine lines.  One doctor's office uses the "Candela's GentleYag Laser" or the Candela and V-beam. Do either of these products work for wrinkles and skin tightening?

A:

Yes, both these products can be effective in the ablation of fine lines or wrinkles. However, you may require more than one treatment/setting. Consider a second opinion regarding your concerns with one of the many members of the ASAPS. They are experts at skin care and rejuvenation.

Best,

Gary R Culbertson, MD, FACS

A:

The Candela GentleYag laser provides wonderful skin tightening of the face and body in the appropriate candidate. The V-beam is a pulsed dye laser. It is wonderful for treating rosacea and spider veins, and in my practice we use it on surgical scars to speed healing. However, the V-Beam is not an ideal laser for skin tightening.
