Will corrective surgery leave scarring?

Q:

I have breast ptosis and a while ago I had been advised to get corrective surgery.  I'm afraid it will leave unsightly scars that will never go away. Is that true? If so, what can I do about it?

A:

Scars are permanent but they usually fade well with time and depending on the problem, the trade-off is well worth it. Be careful about choosing what may seem like a simpler solution with less scarring, because revision surgery only becomes more difficult when previous attempts have not worked out. It is often a good idea to get more than one opinion.
