A:

A patients skin after laser ablation or resurfacing is more susceptible to sun damage as it heals and regenerates. Precautions against sun burns and tanning are usually required for at least 6 to 8 weeks following such procedures. Moles or nevi in areas of laser ablation or resurfacing should be assessed prior to such procedures to determine if they have a malignant potential.
