Q:

I had eyelid surgery yesterday on 7/19. I was told that my stitches will be taken out in three weeks. Is this too long a time to wait? How would I know if I am ready to have them taken out sooner?

A:

Unless you have a very specific situation, in general sutures in the eye lid are taken out within a week.

Ask your surgeon, he/she may have a reason to keep the sutures for three weeks.

If the sutures are on top of the skin and are left for three weeks they will leave a mark (railroad tracks).
