Q:

I have scars on my forehead and neck from surgery.  I've tried laser treatments, but they have not gotten rid of the scars.  I want to know if I am a candidate for scar revision or facial reconstructive/cosmetic surgery.  I am a person of dark color.

A:

Any time the skin is cut full thickness, a scar is formed. We as human beings heal our wounds (accidental or surgical) by scarring.  We do not regenerate our skin, we have evolved beyond that.

Have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and discuss your scarring.  What are your options and what are your expectations.  There is no specific procedure that will ERASE your scars.  The question is can any combination of procedures and time improve on the appearance of your scars?

A:

It is difficult to say without seeing at least photos of you.  I am sure there is something that can be done.  Visit my website (www.surgery-plastic.com).
