How long after breast lift with augmentation should I wait until wearing an under wire bra? Also, how long should I wait until I can have a mammogram?

A:

 These are questions you should normally be addressing to/ with your surgeon. Normally an under wire bra can be worn quite expediently following a breast augmentation. Mammography following breast augmentation is usually performed preoperatively as a baseline study. Then, a repeat study can usually be done within 4 to 6 months after surgery. Consider returning to your surgeon to address your concerns. Best,

Breast Augmentation/Mastopexy Care – The optimal management of post operative care after breast augmentation/mastopexy is a comfortable bra without an underwire or camisole, whatever is most comfortable. I usually have my patients wait about 6 months before having a mammogram.
