How long should I wait (given I have a normal recovery) before I can continue my CrossFit exercises?

Q:

I'm undergoing plastic surgery for three procedures at once: breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and some liposuction. My new found "healthy" addiction is CrossFit. I'm 32 yrs old and in great health. How long should I wait (given I have a normal recovery) before I can continue my CrossFit exercises?

A:

Please address this question to your surgeon. Normally, after such an extensive set of procedures heavy activity such as CrossFit would be discouraged for at least 8 weeks. Best,

Gary R Culbertson, MD, FACS

Monica,

Thank you for your question.  Recovery time after breast augmentation is best answered by the plastic surgeon who will be performing your breast augmentation.  Hopefully O chosen a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the ASAPS.

Generally speaking in my practice patients who have had breast augmentation are asked to wait 3-4 weeks before doing vigorous, strenuous cross training exercise.
