After losing a large amount of weight, can a tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift surgeries all be done at the same time?

Q:

I've lost a large amount of weight and have excess skin.  I want to get a tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift surgery. I would prefer to have all of this done at the same time.  Is this possible and safe?  What would be the pain level of all three procedures and how much time would I need for recovery that I would be away from work?  Also, can you give me an approximate cost of this surgery?

A:

Congratulation on your weight loss. Yes, all the procedures can be done at the same time. However, as you combine plastic surgery body contouring procedures, complications, re-operation rates and recovery times increase. Many patients combine breast lifts with Tummy Tucks. Costs vary depending upon the extent of the procedures. Recovery can be several weeks to a month. Arm lift cost and recovery also vary depending upon the extent of the surgery. Recovery is usually several weeks. Hope this information is of assistance.

Best,

Gary R. Culbertson, MD
