MayI transfer fat from one part of my body to my bony legs?

Q:

I am a 33 year old female and I have very bony legs. I'm embarrassed to wear dresses or shorts without wearing knee boots. Can I transfer fat from one part of my body to the area around and above my ankles?

A:

Fat grafting is a very useful technique in areas of the torso and the extremities where small amounts of change need to be made.  If you are very thin often it is difficult to find enough useable fat tissue to harvest and process for grafting.  It is a very viable option.

A:

Yes, fat injections can be done into any area of the body.  Unfortunately though, the fat may not last and may dissolve.  Also, you may not have enough fat to remove from another area.

A:

The short answer is yes.  With our current techniques we are able to successfully transfer fat in the body. It can usually be done as an outpatient in the office but may require several sessions.
