Odd Request

Q:

Is it possible have an implant beneath my skin to resemble a penis? (in my genital region of course). I've seen many types of implants, from breast implants to those body modification implants (like stars, horns, etc) I don't want to go through a sex change- I just want a penis, or something long enough to resemble a penis (thus the idea of an implant). Any information would be great.

A:

There are several option in penile reconstruction. Suggest to see a plastic surgeon with experience in gender assignment surgery and discuss your options.

A:

I am going to presume you are a female patient considering gender reassignment. At the present time there are no implantable devices that can be placed under the skin in the gentile area to simulate a scrotum & penis. Unfortunately, the surgeries to recreate a penis are very extensive and sometimes quite disfiguring procedures. Please be patient as technology is progressing very quickly. Many scientist are working quite diligently with such areas as stem cell research, tissue engineering, etc. in your area of concern. Best
