Is there a procedure that can remove the scarring after a breast lift?

Q:

Is there a procedure that can remove the scarring after a breast lift?  I am referring to the appearance of scars that remain after the  surgery.

A:

Scars cannot be removed, but can be revised. This is called a scar revision and can be covered by many insurance carriers. Consider a consult with an ASAPS member in your area.

A:

Once a scar is in the skin, it cannot be removed but the appearance of it can be improved. This may require a revision surgery or different topical treatments to make the scars less visible. Check with a board certified plastic surgeon regarding your options.

A:

There are various options for improving the appearance of scars, depending upon the type of scar. If it is within a few months of the surgery and the scars are red, then laser treatments might help. If the scars are wide but mature, a surgical revision would be better. You would need an in-person consultation in order to determine what options are best for you.

A:

Scars can often be improved or made better, but not always. However, they cannot be made to disappear. During your consultation with a plastic surgeon, your options will be discussed.
