Can you recommend a treatment for hair around the areolas?

Q:

I have hair around my areolas. I was wondering if when doing a breast augmentation, can the surgeon cut the skin off where the hair grows and stitch my areolas back on?

A:

Dear Ashley,

The solution to your problem is not to add scars to your areola. It can be safely done by laser hair removal which is safe and scarless. Consult with an ASAPS member for a better assessment of your situation.

Dear Ashley,

Any removal of skin around the areola will result in scarring.  Better options include laser hair removal or electrology.  Laser hair removal is usually very successful but there are sometimes very persistent hair follicles that will only respond to the treatment offered by a qualified electrologist.  A very good starting point is a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is a member of ASAPS who can determine the best course of treatment for you.

A:

Laser hair removal treatment if you have dark hair. Like 12 sessions each six weeks.

Ashley,

Thank you for your question. Laser Hair Removal is your best option. The Lightsheer Diode Laser (I do not own one and have no financial interest in it) is probably the best available.
