Submit your question below about any cosmetic procedure to be considered for posting with an answer from one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.
Note: ASAPS cannot give advice about specific medical problems nor should answers provided by responding surgeons be substituted for a complete medical history, work-up and an in-personal medical/surgical consultation. Sorry we can't answer all questions. We try to select questions that have the widest general interest.
Can you recommend a treatment for hair around the areolas?
The solution to your problem is not to add scars to your areola. It can be safely done by laser hair removal which is safe and scarless. Consult with an ASAPS member for a better assessment of your situation.
Shady Hayek, M.D.
Any removal of skin around the areola will result in scarring. Better options include laser hair removal or electrology. Laser hair removal is usually very successful but there are sometimes very persistent hair follicles that will only respond to the treatment offered by a qualified electrologist. A very good starting point is a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is a member of ASAPS who can determine the best course of treatment for you.
Laser hair removal treatment if you have dark hair. Like 12 sessions each six weeks.
Thank you for your question. Laser Hair Removal is your best option. The Lightsheer Diode Laser (I do not own one and have no financial interest in it) is probably the best available.
