What is the recovery time for a patient who had a tummy tuck 2 months ago and is still experiencing abdominal pain, soreness?

Q:

I'm 46 years old and had a tummy tuck January 9, 2013.  My stomach is not flat, numb in some areas, and still sore.  I'm experiencing a lot of lower abdominal pain.  It's been a little over 2 months of recovery for me.  Can you tell me how long it takes to fully recover from a tummy tuck/lipo and getting back to feeling normal like I did before having the procedure?

A:

Tummy Tuck is a major procedure and takes time to get back to where you were before the surgery. Occasional discomfort especially after heavy activity is normal. Swelling can take a long time to resolve and that may cause some discomfort. Massage and possibly ultrasound may hasten the recovery.
