Are Restylane injections under the eyes painful?

Q:

Hello - do you feel pain under your eyes after Restylane injections? If yes, how long does the pain normally last?

A:

Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Belotaro can be injected below the eyes several ways. One is to use an anesthetic in the filler itself. The other is to block the infraorbital nerve, the one that supplies sensation to the lower eye area. either way can markedly reduce or eliminate any discomfort from the actual injection. There is usually no residual pain after the injection.
