Why would a sebherroic keratosis return after removal?

Q:

I had a sebherroic keratosis removed from the back of my head back in August 2011. It has come back. Why or what would cause this?

A:

 

Sebherroic keratosis or SK’s as they are known are like warts. Removing them is like cutting down a pine tree. What are you left with to remove after the tree is cut down? The root. Laser of SK’s is effective and safe. It destroys the base of lesion and can help prevent recurrence. Here is a reference on this minor procedure:
