Can a surgical scar be removed from my ear lobe?

Q:

A broken plate cut through my ear lobe resulting in a through-through laceration. However, it has been 2-3 years and the wound has healed leaving a permanent scar. I don't feel confident when people ask what happened. Can you please advise if there is a treatment to get rid of the scar without having to go through plastic surgery or any other surgery? Is laser surgery or skin resurfacing possible?

A:

Thanks for the question. Scars can not be removed but, can be improved. Often a scar revision can assist not only function but, also in appearance. Consider a consult with a member of the ASAPS in your area. They are experts in this field of corrective surgery.

 Best,
