Time taken for tummy tuck surgery?

Q:

Generally speaking, how many hours does it take for a tummy tuck surgery?

A:

The answer varies depending on what is done and who does it.  It could be anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours.  My own personal experience is about 2 hours.

It takes me about two hours to do a tummy tuck surgery.  It really depends on the bleeding that one encounters and the amount of tissue that I remove.  I almost always do this surgery as an outpatient and many times combine it with breast enlargement (mommy make-over).  You may go to my website(www.surgery-plastic.com) for further information and watch videos at www.lookbetterforless.com for special pricing.

Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty is a term that is applicable to a variety of procedures aimed at removing excess abdominal skin and tightening the abdominal wall muscles.  I may also include liposuction.

Depending on the patient's individual anatomy, a tummy tuck may consist of:

!. Excision of lower abdominal skin alone;  2. Using a small incision to repair the separation of the rectus abdominis muscles with minimal, or no skin excision; 3. wide undermining of and excision of the lower abdominal skin with rectus abdominis muscle repair; 4. selective liposuction of the lower abdomen and /or flanks.

Depending on which "tummy tuck" is done, the time may range from 2 to 4 hours.

See my website for further information (www.MommyMakeOverSite.com).
