Qualifies for privileges to perform cosmetic plastic surgery in an accredited hospital

Most cosmetic surgical procedures can be safely performed in a licensed or accredited office-based facility, a free-standing outpatient facility or a hospital. If your surgery will be performed in an office-based or ambulatory facility, you want the assurance of knowing that your doctor has privileges to perform the same procedures in an accredited hospital, based on the hospital's review of his or her training and competency. ASAPS members have the necessary qualifications to obtain hospital privileges for cosmetic plastic surgery.

Remember, any licensed physician is legally allowed to advertise as a "plastic" or "cosmetic" surgeon, even if he or she has no formal surgical training. Selecting an ASAPS member is your assurance of quality training and credentials.
