Project Albania
Dr Bengtson has had a longterm commitment to the Country of Albania. Beginning in 1992 when Albania emerged from communism, Dr Bengtson led multiple trips to the country to educate Albanian physicians and provide surgery for the people of this beautiful country. Dr. Bengtson has treated many patients with a variety of traumatic, congenital defects such as cleft lip and palate and other deformities, and provided cancer reconstruction including the first breast reconstruction in Albania. "It is an incredible opportunity to give. Educating surgeons in other countries and helping them learn procedures is an on-going gift, as the doctors may then continue to perform these procedure after your mission has ended. You are giving of your expertise and your time planning to make a difference and change the lives of others, but the life that changes is your own."
