Practice Philosophy

Fritz E. Barton, Jr., M.D. is a native of Fort Worth, Texas and received his undergraduate education at Southern Methodist University. While at SMU he was on the Tennis Team and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was elected to the honorary fraternity Alpha Omega Alpha (which is the Phi Beta Kappa of Medicine) while at SMU. In 1991 he was honored one of SMUs Distinguished Alumni Graduates. He studied Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina Medical School after which he served in the military in Vietnam. After a General Surgery residency at Southwestern Medical School/Parkland Hospital in Dallas, he trained with the late John Converse at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, New York University.

Dr. Barton served as the 1993 President of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, is a past President of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgery. He is also the Founding Editor of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery, a textbook of plastic surgery used in training programs in the United states and 38 foreign countries. Since his return from New York in 1976, Dr. Barton has maintained an active private practice based at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He has been responsible for the cosmetic surgery training of plastic surgeons on a local and national level and is an internationally acclaimed specialist in facelifts, rhinoplasties, and breast surgery.

The November, 1989, issue of TOWN & COUNTRY magazine listed Dr. Barton as one of the best plastic surgeons in the U.S. as well as the August, 1993, issue of SELF magazine. He has also been listed in THE BEST DOCTORS IN AMERICA (a reference guide of physicians voted on by their peers). In May, 1996, Dr. Barton was designated by D Magazine as the best aesthetic plastic surgeon in Dallas, Texas. He is married to Barbara Barton and the father of two children, a daughter Kelly, graduate of Vanderbilt University, and a son Fritz III who attends Texas Christian University.
