How long does it take for the healing process after eyelid surgery? My eyelids were left looking llike they were related to Cyclops, but after six months they are somewhat better. Will they be better after six more months. If not, is there a way to get them repaired?
A:
After six months, the majority of swelling and scar tissue should be resolved. Scars can take a full year to fade from that reddish hue to normal skin color. I would discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon to determine if any type of revision is indicated.

I was a size 34DD and 110 pounds. After being a vegetarian for three years I have gone down to a 32C and now a 100 pounds.. I am a marathon runner, rock climber, boarder, etc. and still want my breasts smaller as they impair my performance. If I get a small reduction to a 32B, will my body adapt to it? For example, will the so called "back flab" I have had to support these large breasts go away? I have heard of female bodies changing due to their breast surgeries. For example, I have had multiple friends who were 98 pounds and size AA's, who have had breast implants to DD's. They start putting on weight along their upper torso and back area as a means to support their heavy implants.
A:
It sounds like you are a great candidate for a Breast Lift and a small Reduction. Of course your body will adapt to it. We all do have a little excess skin projecting beyond a bra line, despite being thin - don't expect that to change.

Will I be able to breastfeed after breast augmentation?
Actually, what is the difference between breast augmentation and breast implants?
A:
It is possible to breast feed after breast augmentation which also means adding a breast implant. However, depending on the technique used, and the circumstances involving your pregnancy, full breast feeding ability without supplementation cannot be guaranteed. There is also no harm to your baby if you are breast feeding and have implants.

I am 45 years of age and I am a size 34D cup. I had a breast lift 15 years ago with quite a bit of scarring. Is it possible to have another lift, despite all the scarring and remain a size 34D, or is it likely that I would need implants as well?
A:
Yes it is possible to have another breast lift. It would be helpful, but not mandatory, if you could obtain your old operative report from your initial plastic surgeon so that the technique used at the time of your first surgery can be verified. Breast implants increase cup size. If you have desires to be larger than a D cup, I would suggest an implant. If your goals are to remain the same size or be slightly smaller, an implant is not indicated.

I am going to have a tummy tuck. Will it be all right to smoke the day before the procedure? Would there be a problem if I smoked right after the surgery?
A:
No, you do not want to smoke before and after your procedure. Smoking decreases circulation to the skin, and as a result you are at much higher risk for complications such as poor wound healing, skin loss, umbilical loss, and worsened scarring. I advise complete cessation of smoking 4-6 weeks before and after a procedure such as an abdominoplasty.
