I had a breast lift and small implants done 6 weeks ago. My implants were submuscular. I knew two weeks post-op that the lift had raised my nipples up considerably, but that the breast itself was still very low and there was no real difference with the cleavage - unless I have a bra on (with under wire). It was also very noticeable that one side was considerably larger then the other side. It feels different on the underneath of my breast as well. I spoke to my surgeon about this and he told me that I still have a lot of swelling on the bottom and it would probably change. We could re-visit the problem after 3 months. I am going back tomorrow for a 6 week follow up and every time I look in the mirror I want to cry. He told me that it is not a big deal to do more of a lift, but what about the size difference (there was a 1 1/2 mm difference in size prior to surgery). And what about the cleavage. I am still mostly flat on top and it looks like I've had implants without the lift, but with the scars. I am so nervous about what the options are for him to "fix" this problem, and also about the additional costs that I may have to face.

Please let me know what my options are so that I know what questions I should ask, and how should any additional charges be handled.

Thank you for your time.

Basically it is too soon to really judge results. I am sure your surgeon will agree. There are many options, but you and your doctor need to wait longer before reviewing them.

I live in Nigeria. I would like to have liposuction, inject fat into my buttocks and have my breasts reduced. How much will all of this cost?

A:

Liposuction fees depend upon the areas treated. Basically fees range from $3,000 to $7,000.  Breast reduction fees vary - physician and facility fees will range from $8,000 to $12,000 total.  Complete recovery from a breast reduction is about 4 to 6 weeks, returning to work in 2 weeks.  Fat transfers into the buttocks will cost about $4,500.

Once you have had a breast lift, will it stay or would you have to get it done again in so many years? Also, what is the cost of this procedure?

A:

All lifts, tucks, suctions, etc are subject to change. The body stretches and changes with child birth, weight gain, weight loss, and aging so no breast lift can ever be permanent. The good news is that the breaded lift will help to set the clock back as long as your weight stays the same. Yes, many people will end up having breast lifts redone as time passes because the weight usually changes.  Fees vary from $5,500 to $8,500. Add in $2500 if implants are added.
