Board Certification

Dr. Stuzin has enjoyed an academically recognized career in plastic surgery, establishing himself as a leader within the field. He has served as both Chairman, as well as Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the certifying organization providing Board Certification for plastic surgeons in the United States. He has also served as President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the organization which represents plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic surgery in the United States.

Professional Background

James M. Stuzin, M. D. is an internationally recognized expert in plastic surgery who has been practicing plastic surgery for over 20 years. The majority of his time in practice has been in the Miami area, the place of his birth.

Dr. Stuzin completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. He then trained in plastic surgery at New York University Hospitals. Following his training in plastic surgery, Dr. Stuzin studied craniofacial surgery and facial reconstruction at the University of Miami hospitals, as well as at UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Stuzin has served as assistant professor at UCLA and currently has an appointment as Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery on the voluntary staff at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He has also served as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Dr. Stuzin entered the private practice of plastic surgery in 1987, specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery. He is a recognized expert on facial aging, and has co-authored several textbooks, including “Surgical Rejuvenation of the Face”, as well as over 70 articles published in plastic surgery journals. He also authored a textbook on “Chemical Peeling and Laser Resurfacing”. Because of his international reputation, Dr. Stuzin has lectured at plastic surgery conferences in the U.S., Canada, Europe, South America and Asia. He has also performed live surgery demonstrations, as well as video demonstrations of his face lifting technique, in North America, Europe, and Brazil.

Dr. Stuzin is co-editor of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, the most recognized plastic surgery journal in the world, with both the largest circulation, as well as highest academic impact factor of all plastic surgery journals.
