Q:

Can I do lower eyelid surgery if I had Lasix done twice?

I am considering lower lid eye surgery combined with a full facelift.  I had Lasix surgery twice, once to correct and then an enhancement a year later in 2001.  I have  dry eyes as a result.  My eye doctor tells me I do not have tear production problems.  The incision for the eye surgery would be on the inside with no skin removed - just fat bag problem.  I would also like to have arm liposuction done at the same time.  Is this OK?

A:

Having lasix ten years ago would not be a significant issue in regards to having a lower eyelid surgery and full facelift. Adding the arm liposuction may increase anesthesia beyond a safe time and probably should be done at a different time.

The bags under your eyes and the heavy wrinkles oould possibly be corrected with a combination of blepharoplasty and laser resurfacing. To determine if you are a candidate, consult with 3 - 4 experienced and expert board certified plastic surgeons.

Q:

Can fillers help to soften scarring from post IPL procedures?

I'm scarred from having IPL procedures.  Unfortunately I was not aware that scarring existed from IPL lasers and that they are usually latent. I went from smooth skin to my entire face being scarred at age 34.   Can fillers help to soften the scarring?

A:

Claudia,

Sorry for your adverse result. IPL performed improperly can cause scarring. You do have some options to correct the issue. However, without an in-person consultation and exam it would be improper to suggest the appropriate treatment. Have in-person consultations with three to four experienced and expert board certified plastic surgeons to explore your options.
