I am interested in surgery in order to alter the shape and size of my ears. Is this possible?
A:
Yes, Otoplasty Ear Surgery can reshape, balance, and change the size of the ear. This is surgical sculpture and a true artist picks from an assortment of surgical sculpture options to refine the shape of the ear. It is easier to make the shape smaller than larger. Macrotia Ear Reduction Surgery is one form of otoplasty. Sometimes certain elements of the ear need to be expanded such as in a Constricted Ear Deformity.
Hope this helps.

My husband, who is 42, has small ears but they stick out. He wears his hair so they are not so noticeable. I was wondering if there is a procedure to fix this and, if so, is he too old to have it done?
A:
Otoplasty Ear Surgery can reshape and bring the ears closer to the head. Different elements of the Ear Anatomy can be the cause. For a natural look good ear surgery sculpts the offending component(s). This is surgical sculpture; not all surgeons have the same skills. Checking many Before and After Photographs of Otoplasty Surgery can help guide you to a particular surgeon's skills.

Abdominoplasty- what is the cost of this surgery and could I have a consultation so that I can prepare myself, even though I want the surgery by next January?
A:
Educating yourself about planned surgery can be important factors in an easier experience and recovery. The internet is one place to start. A consultation then can expand about the specifics. Not all doctors offer the same techniques. If what needs to be sculpted is evolving such as in weight loss, the problem may not be fully defined. In such cases early examination and consultation can confuse what needs to be done. For instance having a consult and then losing 100 pounds can make for a completely different surgical solution. That is why getting a problem stabilized before considering surgery has such value.

What is the average recovery time for a breast reduction? Also, what is the average cost?
A:
Recovery after Breast Reduction depends on the problem to be treated, what is done, skill of the surgeon, after surgery care, and many other factors. If you start out with less swelling and tissue injury, there will be a quicker recovery. Minimize these factors and discomfort is also much less. Although I prescribe a strong pain medication after surgery, most of my breast reduction patients tell me that plain Tylenol alone is more than enough to keep them comfortable.
Costs and fees for Breast Reduction Surgery vary from doctor to doctor and around the country.
