I'm interested in getting buttock augmentation. I have been reading up on the procedure. I cannot afford any kind of implants. Can the buttock augmentation be done solely with fat injections?

A:

Buttock (gluteal) augmentation is commonly achieved with fat grafts using injection methods and less commonly with rearrangement of fatty tissue flaps in massive weight loss patients.  Methods of fat harvesting and grafting vary tremendously.  This procedure is generally referred to by the public as the "Brazilian Butt Lift."  Click the following link for a youtube video of results.  www.youtube.com/watch

I have always been a thin woman but I have thick ankles and no calf definition. It's not fat, just bone. My sisters have the same problem. Is this common with some women and is it correctable?

A:

Although fat can be liposuctioned from "cankles," I am not aware of any orthopedic procedure, which I guess would be akin to bunion surgery, that reduces the size of the bones of the ankle which is performed for cosmetic reasons.

I had a breast lift with areola reduction. After this procedure, I lost sensation in that area. Is there a procedure to correct this?

A:

Any breast lift can result in a reduction and/or loss of nipple sensation. This risk may increase with placement of an implant. Generally this risk tends to be low and in the range of less than 4%.  In many instances, the sensation is lost temporarily and will return or increase over a period of two years.  If permanent, there is little that can be done to restore the sensation.  On two rare instances, in my experience, removal and replacement of implants with a lift resulted in improved sensation.  However, I cannot explain this other than relief of pressure or scar tissue on the nerve. www.youtube.com/results

I am 53 years old and although my neck is tight, it looks very gaunt. When I smile it appears stringy vertically. My face is smooth and without sag, but I have very fine thin skin. For my age I have less than average wrinkles and no visable pores. I cannot see that a neck lift could help me as I feel if anything my skin looks TOO tight and I need more fat to hide the stringiness. What procedure do you suggest is needed to make improvement in my appearance?

A:

In some cases the use of Dysport or other botulinum toxin preparations can be useful to relax the neck muscles and achieve a softened appearance to the neck without a facelift. This is especially true for vertical bands that appear with forced smiling.

Is there such a procedure as removing fatty tissue from the abdomen area and placing it into the buttocks?

A:

The procedure of lipoinjection to the buttock using abdominal fat has been popularly called the "Brazilian Butt Lift."  It is not a true lift, but contouring of the buttock with fat grafts (taken from nearly anywhere on the body) and selective liposuction of the lower back, hips and thighs.
