Consultation

Cosmetic surgery consists of a group of elective procedures that can improve one’s physical appearance.  During your initial consultation with Dr. Howard, he will examine the areas you wish to change.  Dr. Howard allows plenty of time to spend with his patients so that all their questions can be answered.  As a part of the consultation process, we will need to obtain pre-operative computerized images of you.  These images become part of your medical record, and will be discussed with you at various intervals of your recovery.  If your surgery is reconstructive in nature, we may, at your permission, need to furnish your insurance company with pre-operative pictures.  If your surgery is cosmetic in nature, a fee will be quoted at this initial visit.  Fees are quoted in accordance to the standards of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  You will receive a pre-operative book about the elective procedure you desire to have.  This book covers everything about the specific surgery including the risks, benefits, and imponderables, as well as detailed post-operative care instructions.  We believe a well-informed patient is a confident patient with a smoother and more comfortable recovery.  You may schedule surgery at the time of your initial consultation or you may call 205-871-3361 after you have the opportunity to arrange your personal or work schedule.

Cash, Check, Cashier’s Check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Dr. Howard is a provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Languages Spoken

English is the primary spoken language by Dr. Howard and his staff.  Interpreters can be arranged for almost any language with advance notice.

Computer Imaging

Dr. Howard is proud to provide the latest and most sophisticated computer imaging system for our patients.  The Mirror/Canfield Computerized Imaging System is the latest addition to his collection of tools to better define goals and limitations in performing plastic surgery.  The system consists of a digital high-resolution video camera that displays the patient’s picture on a monitor in full color.  Through the use of the modern computer technology, your images can then be technically altered to demonstrate possible surgical changes.  A major benefit of the system is that images are immediately available to discuss treatment options with patients.  Dr. Howard and his staff are available to answer any questions regarding the digital imaging system, and hope you will take advantage of the latest in imaging technology.
