Board Certification

Dr. Steve White is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery.

Professional Background

Dr. Steven White obtained his undergraduate training in 1975 at the Citadel, graduating with honors. He began his medical training at the Medical University of South Carolina, on an Air Force Scholarship, where he earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 1979. He immediately entered a surgical internship at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi and continued in surgical residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. In 1984 he completed his general surgery residency and in 1986, completed his plastic surgery residency. While in the Air Force, he was assigned to the Wiesbaden Regional Medical Center in West Germany. He had the honor of becoming the first Air Force Plastic Surgeon ever assigned permanently to the European Theater, and held the distinguished position as Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Through his medical work during the Pan Am hostage incident, U.S.S. Stark missile attack, and the Italian Aerial Disaster at Ramstein Air Base, he gained extensive experience in burns and facial trauma.
