Q:

If 325cc's minimum is taken from each breast during a breast reduction, will my breasts then be too small after the surgery?

My breasts are currently a 36 DD/DDD size.   I have been approved for a breast reduction by my insurance, however, they will have to take out a minimum of 325 cc's from each breast.  I'm afraid this will leave my breasts being too small.  What size do you think I will be after the surgery?

A:

Although there is a lot of variability, generally removing this amount will reduce the breast by about one cup size.  This depends on your body build and the bra manufacturer.  By and large most women having a reduction go to a C cup and if you are a DD/DDD and go to a C, most likely more than 325 cc's will be removed to create that size.  A consultation with a plastic surgeon to evaluate your preoperative size will be the best way to learn more about expectations of the procedure and postoperative results.
