Breast lift can provide similar results as augmentation
November 5, 2010
For women who are considering cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of their breasts, they may feel that the only option at their disposal is a breast augmentation. However, there are a number of other options available that can provide patients with equally positive results.
One of the alternatives to breast augmentation is the breast lift. Experts say that the procedure may be the ideal choice for many patients because the treatment can do a great deal to correct many aesthetic deficiencies, but does not require an implant. Being aware of all options may ensure that patients are more satisfied with their end results.
Good candidates for this procedure include individuals who have lost the shape, firmness and position of their breasts but are satisfied with their size and volume. It is important to discuss the expected results and the risks involved with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic surgery provides resources to Find-a-Surgeon or Ask-A-Surgeon a question about breast lifts or augmentations.
The mission of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) includes medical education, public education and patient advocacy. Plastic Surgery News Briefs are summaries of current stories found through various news and magazine outlets that relate to or mention plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures. The views expressed in these news articles do not necessarily reflect the opinions of ASAPS, but are merely published as an educational service to our members and the general public.
