Curious plastic surgeries are also on the rise
June 2, 2011
Recent statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that popular procedures, such as breast augmentation, liposuction and breast reduction, are on the rise. According to the organization, the overall number of cosmetic procedure cases increased by 155 percent since they began recording data.
A recent article published by SheKnows.com states that there are a few lesser-known cosmetic surgery procedures that are gaining popularity. One of those surgeries, umbilicoplasty, involves alteration of the belly button, particularly for individuals who are "outies." This may be in part due to the current trend of low-rise jeans and visible midriffs.
Also mentioned were toe tucks, which involves slimming the pinky toe after removing corns. Additionally, the news source reports that some people are opting to have their toes shortened. This could help individuals fit into sandals in the warmer weather, and helps make the foot more aesthetically pleasing overall.
Those who are considering plastic surgery should schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. This will allow you to go over your concerns with a medical professional who can determine the best course of action.
