Silicone breast implants make a comeback since 2006 FDA ruling
Since silicone breast implants were re-approved in 2006 by the Food and Drug Administration, their use has grown exponentially in breast augmentations. Fox News reports that new statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) show that 72 percent of all breast implants are now silicone.
