Reuters showcases beautiful photos of plastic surgery
April 11, 2013
Last year, more than 10 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the US, an increase of more than 3 percent over the previous year. Among the most popular procedures were breast augmentations, liposuction, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Cosmetic procedures have come a long way, and while they were once a taboo subject, their popularity is a testament to their widespread acceptance in mainstream culture.
Recently, Reuters showcased the "world of plastic surgery" with a gallery of gorgeous, artistic photos of cosmetic procedures happening around the world. Individuals here in the US who are considering aesthetic surgery may be able to learn something about aesthetic operations by paying the gallery a visit.
What can be learned
The gallery opens with an image of a woman on a surgical table about to receive double eyelid surgery, a procedure that can make the eyes appear larger. According to the news source, this procedure is one of the most popular in China, which is where the image was captured.
Later in the gallery, we see a Swedish woman, Ana Hartvigsson, at a plastic surgery clinic as she is being evaluated for liposuction. You can see the lines made on her target areas - the waist and thighs, as her plastic surgeon evaluates her for the procedure.
Women aren't the only patients who are shown in the gallery. There are two images of a British man receiving hair transplant surgery.
Patients in the U.S. are featured in the introspective as well. In one photo, we can see a patient being prepared for abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, at a plastic surgery center in New Jersey.
Picture your surgery
While these photos show the state of plastic surgery around the world, individuals in the US may be inspired to pay a visit to a local plastic surgery clinic after viewing them. Before-and-after photos are one of the best ways for patients to get an inside look at what is possible with cosmetic surgery. During a plastic surgery consultation, you can ask your doctor to show you pictures of various procedures. Be sure to ask for images that depict people with a similar body type who elected to receive a procedure that you are considering.
