In 2009, 9-year-old Noora Afif Abdulhameed traveled to Portland, Oregon to receive plastic surgery to help heal a wound she suffered from a sniper. She recently returned to have another round of reconstructive surgery thanks to the charitable group, No More Victims, The Portland Press Herald reports.

Tanja Nielsen has had a difficult two years. After doctors discovered she had breast cancer in 2008, the single mother underwent aggressive treatment that included treatment and surgery while continuing to be a single mother. Since then, the South Carolina native has since turned to a program at a local hospital that will help her recover emotionally from the stress of her treatment, South Carolina-based newspaper The Post and Courier reports.

Specialized face lift may help cure migraines

Sufferers of migraines may have some hope for relief, as a new study suggests that plastic surgery may alleviate the debilitating headaches. Researchers say they have found that removing certain muscles or nerve tissue can have a positive impact, CNN reports.

While there have been a number of other treatments that have been aimed at treating symptoms of migraines, those who conducted the study believe this is a more permanent solution.
