  • Effectively plan abdominoplasty surgery by reviewing pre-operative clinical analysis, patient markings including liposuction of the flap and adjacent aesthetic units, peri-operative considerations including safety issues, and the consultation
  • Analyze how to reconcile different anatomic variations and patient goals to achieve an optimal outcome, including reviewing the range of abdominal contour surgery options from liposuction to limited or full abdominoplasty and massive weight loss procedures
  • Compare the numerous available treatment options such as lipoabdominoplasty or mini-abdominoplasty vs. traditional abdominoplasty or panniculectomy or massive weight loss options and who is an appropriate candidate for each
  • Review the typical surgical technique for abdominoplasty and lipoabdominoplasty
  • Identify and treat unusual situations in abdominoplasty, such as the scarred abdomen, removing the old umbilical site, narrowing the waistline, male abdominoplasty and secondary abdominoplasty among other situations
  • Discuss how to integrate abdominoplasty with other cosmetic procedures or treating related areas, such as the mons pubis, flanks, or back rolls
  • Explain how to avoid, identify, and manage complications of abdominoplasty, such as wound ischemia, seromas/pseudobursas, or VTE
  • Evaluate complications and implications for practice, based on numerous data bases and evidence based medicine
