Level: Comprehensive                   Organization: Discussion
This comprehensive course is designed for the physician.  It will provide participants an in-depth view of practical anatomy of the upper face and eyelid region.  Treatment rationale and clinical applications for a variety of techniques will be covered including the use of proven blepharoplasty techniques that are designed to be very atraumatic, yet effective.  The emphasis of this course will be on techniques to improve eyelid appearance, reduce or eliminate lid cheek junction abnormalities, and improve skin texture.
Desired outcomes:

  • When considering surgical options in the pre-treatment consultation, explain to the patient how to integrate the treatment of forehead/eyebrow asymmetries and abnormalities with upper and lower eyelids
  • When planning forehead surgery, identify and treat the muscles, retaining ligaments, and other critical anatomical structures to achieve the desired result
  • When injecting fillers in the periorbital region, demonstrate knowledge of appropriate fillers, depth of injection and specific techniques to ensure optimal outcomes
  • During upper and lower lid fat grafting, describe step-by-step how to ensure patient safety while achieving optimal results
  • Given the array of techniques for treatment of lid-cheek junction abnormalities, assess options to design effective treatment plans for individual patients
  • During endoscopic and open forehead and brow rejuvenation, describe the actions which can lead to adverse events/complications and categorize subsequent management
  • Given an array of pre-operative deformities, choose an effective treatment plan from options including peels, fat injection, injectable neurotoxin, soft tissue fillers, and the surgical techniques available today
  • When seeking to control eyebrow position and shape, demonstrate specific techniques in order to ensure optimal outcomes
