David M. Metzner, MD is an Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon. His specialty areas are minimizing the effects of aging, redefining facial features and contouring the body When working with a patient, Dr. Metzner thinks of himself not only as a surgeon but also as an artist. As an artisan working with instruments instead of brushes, he combines his special surgical skills, artistic insight and good communication abilities to achieve a very natural appearance for his patients.

Dr. Metzner believes plastic surgery is both a science and an art: a good surgeon must combine the two successfully for his patients. Furthermore, he believes that every patient's aesthetic surgery needs and goals are unique. A surgeon must be truly versatile to customize procedures in order to give each of his patients the best possible result. As such, Dr. Metzner honed his analytical and creative skills through art classes at Harvard, the creation of custom jewelry and sculpting.

His specialty areas are minimizing the effects of aging, redefining facial features and contouring the body. He performs facial rejuvenation, eyelid, face, neck and forehead lifts, Botox, line and wrinkle injections, breast augmentation and lifting, breast reduction (female and male), liposuction by the tumescent technique, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), nose (rhinoplasty), cheek, lips, chin and ear correction and enhancement.

Surgical Facility

All of the procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, although overnight hospital stay is available if you prefer. Dr. Metzner has carefully chosen facilities that are state-of-the-art and have the highest level of certification.

Anesthesia services are provided by Anesthesiologists, medical doctors who specialize in outpatient anesthesia. The operating and recovery rooms are equipped to modern hospital standards to insure your safety during and after surgery. Their medical and surgical processes are continuously updated to optimize each patient's safety, surgical experience, comfort, and well-being.

Because they understand the unique needs of the cosmetic surgery patient, the facilities have established special arrangements and staffing to insure your privacy, confidentiality, and value without sacrifice of quality.

Consultation

The first step in deciding about cosmetic surgery is a private consultation with Dr. Metzner. You will have the opportunity to spend an hour with him in a very thorough and personalized session. He will ask you to describe what it is about your appearance that bothers you, and what you hope to accomplish. He will examine the areas of concern, take measurements, and check your skin elasticity. You will then compare your observations to make sure you agree. He will suggest one or a variety of procedures, and explain the benefits, limitations, and risks of each in language you can understand.

For facial surgery, especially for noses and chins, you can use our computer imaging system to see yourself on a monitor, and to preview possible outcomes of surgery. This will help in planning what would look best for your individual face and help you make choices with more confidence.
