Scanning and Registering FAQS

  1. How do I access the scanner? Locate your patient and tap Implants under patient info and then the scan label icon. You will then need to answer a few questions about the breast implant before you are able to scan (e.g. manufacturer, reason for surgery).

  2. How do I use the scanner? How do I use the scanner? Simply center the camera over the QR code or long barcode on the outside of the implant box and allow it to focus. Once the camera focuses, tap on the screen to start the scan. Please note, only the barcodes on the outside of the box can be used with scanner.

  3. What type of labels can I scan? You can scan the QR code or long barcodes located on the outside of the implant box from Allergan, Mentor, and Sientra. While the app is designed to scan short barcodes, this will not collect the same details that can be generated by the QR code or long barcode which included the implant size, lot number etc...

  4. Why isn’t the label scanning?  First make sure you are scanning the QR code or long barcode on the outside of the implant box. If your label isn’t scanning it’s likely due to the lighting or scanning distance. Moving your mobile device up and down slowly can help resolve this. When scanning, be sure the QR code/barcode appears in the red box in focus and that you avoid headlamps or overhead lighting that may cause a glare.

  5. When will the breast implants be registered? The patient's breast implant details will be registered with the manufacturer after you have scanned the implants, provided the Op Summary details, have reviewed the generated registration form and tapped the register now icon.

  6. Which implant manufacturers can I register my breast implants with? You can scan QR code or long barcode on the outside of the implant box for breast implants from Allergan, Mentor, and Sientra.

  7. How is the implant registered? The patient and breast implant details are provided/registered to the manufacturer through efax after you have scanned the implants, provided the operative summary details, have reviewed the generated registration form and tapped the register now icon.

  8. What is the breast implant library? The breast implant library will show you all the implants that you have registered as well as those that still need to be registered with the manufacturer. You will receive weekly reminders when there are implants pending registration.

  9. Why did I receive a notification that there are implants that need to be registered? If you’ve received this, it means that you have not registered the listed implant(s) with the manufacturer. You will receive weekly reminders until the registration process is complete.

  10. What is a breast implant card and how does it work? The breast implant ID card provides your patient with the serial number, manufacturer, and date of their breast implant surgery and a brief Op Summary.  Patients can access their ID card at any time through their app by tapping the Document Vault and selecting implants.

  11. What is the Op summary? The op summary provides a summary for the breast implant procedure linked to the patients implant ID card. The Op Summary displays the patient's name/date of birth, date of surgery, surgery details, and the breast implants reference/serial numbers.

  12. Can I edit the op summary after I complete it? Yes. Simply access the op summary by selecting implants from the patient's profile and tap the edit icon. Your patient's personal breast implant ID card will reflect the updated information.
