The Corset Body Lift (Corset Trunkplasty) is a comprehensive approach to trunk contouring following massive weight loss with particular attention to creating an aesthetically pleasing (hour-glass) waistline.  The procedure was developed as a single-stage, single-position technique to address the multi-dimensional skin redundancy (with or without complex skin rolls) routinely found in patients that have lost significant weight.  In order to maximize body shape in these patients, excess skin needs to be removed in more than one direction (vertical and horizontal), which can be easily performed by utilizing a simple tailor-tacking marking technique and direct closure of wounds without undermining.
Desired outcomes:

  • Identify the contouring advantages of a corset body lift
  • Identify good surgical candidates with simple clinical evaluation pearls
  • Recognize how to perform the corset body lift while limiting complications
  • Discuss how to modify the corset body lift to increase its versatility and successfully treat a wide range of patients
