How old do you have to be to get breast augmentation?

Q:

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on this.  I am 14 years old, but I have parental consent.

A:

This is a very common question regarding minors and Breast Augmentation.  The policy as dictated from the FDA indicates that Breast Augmentation should only be performed in the physically normal patient who is above the 18 years of age.  There are exceptions.  Patients that have Congenital Breast Abnormalities such as Breast Asymmetry, Poland's Syndrome etc. can and do have Breast Augmentations at earlier ages.  Consider a consult with one of the members of the ASAPS to address your concerns.

A:

FDA regulations state that a woman should be 18 years of age for saline implants and 22 years of age for silicone gel implants unless you have a medically necessary reason like a traumatic or congenital deformity or deformity following removal of a large benign breast tumor.

A:

At 14 your breasts are not fully developed and breast augmentation now could damage the breast and interfere with growth. Generally 18 years old for Saline breast implants and 22 for silicone breast implants are the guidelines.

A:

I personally feel that 18 is a mature enough age unless a congenital issue is present. The FDA has stated the 18 is the minimal age in a healthy young lady.  The FDA also requires the use of normal saline up to 22 years old and then afterwards the patients choice. Goo Luck
