Abd liposuction & old abd surgery scars

Q:

I had 2 surgeries in 1986: exploratory where they balloon cath'd my R ureter & a month later a R nephrectomy (CAKUT). The scars have caused disymmetry in fat placement. I'm interested to know how these scars may hinder liposuction in general & achieving symmetry.

A:

You are absolutely correct, scaring from previous surgery can and does effect outcomes of liposuction. Sometimes a scar revision or skin excision can be required. Consider a consult with one of the many members of the ASAPS. They are experts in the field of Liposuction and Restorative Surgery. Best,

A:

abdominal scars can affect the outcome of abdominal liposuction.  Additionally, they can possibly increase risk if the surgeon is not cautious liposuctioning across the scar tissue.  Thus, you should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. www.drtoddcase.com
