Which non-surgical liposuction would you recommend for inner and outer thighs...............

Q:

Which non surgical liposuction procedure would you recommend for inner and outer thighs that will destroy the fat cells so the fat is not regained with healthy diet and exercise. I currently eat very healthy and exercise daily but have fat on the upper part of my legs that is resistant to diet and exercise.

A:

There are two FDA-cleared technologies for nonsurgical fat reduction, but it is important to point out that they are not specifically tested for the thigh area. The first is Zeltiq, which uses cryotherapy, and the other is Liposonix, which uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). Liposonix was just recently FDA cleared and will be available soon in the U.S.

There is one other FDA approved method other than what Dr. Baxter mentioned. It is Zerona. Although it does not destroy the cell, it does reduce the fat in the treated area significantly. Once this is off, it is usually well maintained with a normal diet. I t can be focused to concentrate on the specific areas that bother you.. It, like most similar devices, is user dependent. Make sure whoever you use has adequate training in the technology.

In my practice we offer CoolSculpting Complete. CoolSculpting Complete is not for everyone, but for selected patients it can provide a very nice result without surgery or downtime. CoolSculpting Complete is not a replacement for liposuction. I would advise anyone interested in a non-surgical fat removal treatment to visit an ASAPS member with experience and expertise in body contouring surgery in addition to non-surgical methods of fat reduction.

CoolSculpting Complete for the thighs is currently an off-label use at the date of this posting. But, for people with excess fat in localized areas with good skin quality, the results with CoolSculpting Complete for the inner thighs has been positive. In just one hour, both thighs can be treated with CoolSculpting Complete. Patients can see a result after a single treatment, although some people do require 2 or more treatments for optimal results.

CoolSculpting Complete is a safe, non-invasive way to reduce fat in common trouble areas that tend to be diet and exercise resistant. Developed by Harvard scientists, the precisely controlled, FDA-cleared, patented procedure uses a cooling technology that targets subcutaneous fat cells by freezing them to the point of crystallization. Once crystallized, the cells are then eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system in a natural process. There is no damage to healthy tissue or skin cells. The procedure is non-invasive, and there is no need for needles or anesthesia. Patients typically read, work on their laptops, listen to music, or relax during the procedure. Each session lasts one hour and therefore can easily be fit into a lunch break. After treatment, patients typically find it easy to return to everyday activities.

Most patients see a noticeable reduction of fat in the treatment area after one treatment although it may take more than one treatment to realize the full effects. Because the fat cells that are eliminated from CoolSculpting Complete do not return, the results are lasting as long as a healthy lifestyle is maintained.
