Will surgery help relieve puffy eyes due to allergies?

Q:

My doctor says I have puffy eyes due to allergies. I have used prescription eye drops but they did not help. Will surgery help relieve the puffiness?

A:

A consultation will assist in making the recommendation. But usually yes. The puffiness is caused by fatty pockets around the eye which have started to push the overlying tissues outwards. Removing the extra fat and tightening things up will improve the eyelid region.
