Through his over 20 years of experience Dr. Novaes has created and developed various techniques, using safer approaches philosophy to provide natural results cosmetic surgery. Dr. Novaes has extensive experience in all areas of cosmetic surgery including Face, Breast, and Body Contouring.

He has innovated in numerous Body Contour procedures, based on his “lipoundermining”, undermining performed through the cannula, a safer approach because it preserves the anatomic structures (arteries, veins and lymphatics) important to abdominal skin viability. Besides yielding a better result due to the remaining fat removal, it also reduces the recovery time and complication rate.

Dr. Novaes has applied these concepts and extended them to other techniques, including Lipoabdominoplasty (“Classification for Indication of Lipoabdominoplasty and its Variations” published by him at the American Surgery Journal, official ASAPS publication), Arm Lipolifting, Thigh Lipolifting, Lipotorsoplasty (http://www.lipoabdominoplastia.com.br/lipotorsoplastia/) and Brazilian Body Contour (http://www.lipoabdominoplastia.com.br/brazilian-body-contour/). Brazilian Body Contour and Lipotorsoplasty rendered him a national award in 2004 and an International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) Body Contouring Research Foundation Prize in San Francisco in 2010.

During all these years attending numerous international congresses, Dr. Novaes has had the opportunity of exchanging information with the best face-procedure surgeons in the world, especially Americans. This experience helped him achieve his own personal approach. Dr. Novaes has also performed countless facelifts, following his concrete philosophy of achieving a natural appearance with no complicated methods. Dr. Novaes’ approach is based on repositioning facial muscle structures (SMAS) and fat. He does not remove any facial tissues, but repositions them to add volume especially to the cheeks. In the neck, liposuction is performed to model the jaw area removing the fat, or simply undermining through his “lipoundermining” technique avoiding trauma. In addition, he performs the platysma muscle treatment and traction.

He also performs non-invasive face procedures, including Botulinic Toxin and Hyaluronic Acid. However, he does not use permanent fillers.
